Official title & purpose

Informational Hearing – Youth Peer Violence FOR the purpose of requiring representatives from the Baltimore City Health Department, the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement, the Mayor’s Office of Children and Family Success, and the Mayor’s Office of African American Male Engagement and inviting representatives from Baltimore City Public Schools, the Baltimore City School Police, and the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s Center for Violence Prevention, and the Dean of Community Engaged Research at the Johns Hopkins University to appear before the Council to discuss the scope of youth peer violence in Baltimore City, how institutions, including emergency departments, in the City are currently addressing the problem, the challenges service providers and parents face in addressing youth peer violence, and further steps the City and its institutions could take to address the problem.
